Here are some pics of the awesome pie crusts I made for thanksgiving this year.  And a pretty cute new family pic.

The finished pie shown was a chocolate walnut success.  Heavely, really.  The other pie (not pictured) did not turn out quite so heavenly.  During dessert, Matt very quietly leaned over to me and said, "This one (pointing to the chocolate walnut pie) is excellent (insert dramatic pause here), this one (pointing to the pumpkin pie) seems like it might be missing something."  So I took a bite.  Do you think I should have put sugar in the pie, possibly? . . . Oh brother.  Sadly, it tasted so bad that it ended up in the trash.  I should have taken a picture of that.  It was such a pretty little pumpkin pie. . . :)  But we had a fantastic Thanksgiving feast together with the best family-away-from-family a girl could ask for.  So thankful for them.

  1. That really did make me laugh out loud. Sugar schmugar. At least it was pretty! One year, my mom forgot to take the wax paper lining off the store-bought crust. That was a fun little surprise when we cut into it!

  2. Sugar is totally overrated. So glad your chocolate walnut was good though!
